These past few days, these past few months, okay, these past few years have been a whirlwind, but it truly does come down to these past few weeks. I've heard many people say that your teens are the most complicated time, but I would like to question those people and raise them a few points. I honestly feel as though the twenties are the most difficult, and I'm fresh into them. You see, in your 'teens' you at least believe you have the world figured out. You face difficulties, but for the most part, you believe that you're infallible. Part of me misses that feeling...
And then there is the roaring lion in my head telling me that I truly don't miss it. Who honestly would miss young ignorance when you're faced with more truth, more soul, more life? These past few weeks have been hard, but not due to physical problems, more so due to a person boot camp I appear to be putting my mind through. It's a battle I fight silently for the most part, besides this post. It's a battle I barely even speak of, not even to my best friend.
I'm learning things...and that could the the child of many other things, but when you get right down to it, I'm in an age of growing and learning. I can over analyze all I want, but the simple solution is right there.
When you get down and gritty with it, I'm growing as a woman, and that's a complicated thing to do.

lustful luxuries - buckle love
As a slight update to my new retail adventure post, I actually am switching companies and going over to American Eagle. Nothing personal, and not going back on my new found love for items at Buckle, it's honestly about your day job being able to pay the bills. Isn't being a grown up so fun!?
Anyway, these items are beautiful, and you should go look into them at your neighborhood Buckle!

lustful luxuries - obey version
Who doesn't love some OBEY? If you don't, you're nuts.

I have this little diddy on layaway at my store. I couldn't resist! It actually fits like a fantastic off the shoulder shit. I'm in love with it and cannot wait to own it! EDIT: BOUGHT IT! My new favorite go-to comfy shirt from now till the end of time. source: here
And this only tips the iceberg of what Obey has to offer, and another plus? Buckle carries the cutest OBEY stuff, for the record. And if you're wondering why there are a lot of tank tops even though we are getting close to fall/winter? Your answer is simple. I'M FROM CALIFORNIA!

a new retail adventure
Besides a two month blip at McDonalds, most of my grown up 'day job' career has been filled with retail. From being a third key at Icing, and then Claire's, to being an assistant manager at Rue 21. I like clothes, so retail made sense for me (and the discount does not hurt either!). So obviously when I took the plunge to Colorado, I applied at retail jobs because we all know that we have to make money to pay for our internet bill.
And within the first few days, I was extremely lucky. I got an interview at 'The Buckle' and a week later I got a call for a job. Currently, I work all the freight in the back room. It's not what I'm used to, but it's a nice change from being in charge. I also love to see all the beautiful clothes coming in before everyone else!
Now for a little bit of honestly, because I got this job, I never stepped foot in a Buckle. I had looked in the windows, and at the beautiful shoe towers outside, but deep in my heart I knew that everything in that store was way out of my budget. I've always been a thrift/bargain shopper. My momma trained me that way from out of the womb. I didn't think I would ever be able to find enough excuses spend (insert insane amount of money here) on one item of clothing. And, if we're being completely honest, I was under the impression that I despised all things Affliction.
Well folks, I assumed wrong.
I will never turn my back on thrifting, or bargain hunting, I just love it too much. But, I also found that I actually really love nice, slightly pricey clothes. I'm slightly ashamed, but at the same time I just can't help it. I even will admit to having ninety dollar jeans on layaway right now. I know! I know! Trust me, if you tried on these pants, you, too, would succumb to the comfort of them. I even have a worse confession...
I, the girl who has always hated all things embellished and all sequins, is slowly warming up to them. I even have a shirt with sequins on layaway. I do not know what is happening. Working around these clothes will be the death of me.
They are just so...beautiful. (and it also helps that the girls I work with and my manager are AMAZING)
I mean my manager made me chocolate chocolate chip cream cheese filled cupcakes for my birthday...
Stay tuned to see how I continue to succumb to the cat call of stunning clothes (and delicious baked treats...)

such a lovely addition to a home...
I claim nothing to this, it all goes the the wonderful Elsie Larson @ A Beautiful Mess.
Today my man and I thrifted an amazing couch for our incredibly bare apartment for only twenty bucks! It's nice to give our empty apartment more oomph, makes it feel more homey and now our asses won't start hurting after sitting on the floor for too long. Perks all around.
Another thing that would make our home feel lovely, but we'll probably not do and it'll stay in the daydreams of my mind, is this beautiful lace tent. Go check out the DIY on her blog. I know you'll wanna do it, tooo! A beautiful, inspiring project as we all enter our hectic (and hopefully slightly peaceful!) weekends.

finding the music
It's one of those days where life has hit you in the ass numerous times and you cannot find it in yourself to do the blogging things you said you do, or to create those items you promised the deepest corner of your heart that you would get done TODAY...but it's three thirty in the afternoon and all you've managed to do is procrastinate. Sure, you got some really amazing reading in today, but the things you said you do are still looming over your head.
Welcome to most of my days off. Between the stress of life and the soul draining power of a day job, this is what most of my days off felt like. I was so dead from the week that I had no inspiration to do anything but sit on my ass and burry my nose in a book. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE a good day filled with a story, but I would go to bed feeling like I had accomplished nothing. So, I decided that I needed to get my ass in gear and start doing SHIT.
(Please don't take any of this to heart. I am no advice guru. I just am slowly figuring out what works for me personally!)
I have this girl (or boy if you wish to call it that!) that is my go to, never let me down kind of a girl - and that's music. Sure, it changes on a day by day basis. One day I'll be rapping along to Macklemore, another day I could be listening to Against Me!, and I can always count on my slow, acoustic tunes to sooth my soul and bring some inspiration.
So, if you're lacking some inspiration because it's the middle of the week and you just got off your day job - try listening to this job and hopefully it will sooth your soul a little bit.

twenty-one!
This was my last photograph of me being twenty years old! I was one of those girls who went out at 12:30. Most of the bars in this little town were closed, but we found this really neat dive bar called 'Tonys'. I got my first jack & coke (or two...) bought by my lovely boy and had so much fun! I'm sorry to report I didn't get too crazy the next day, on my actual birthday. Instead I was incredibly responsible because I had to work on Friday, and I am not a 'hungover at work' kinda gal. But don't get me wrong, I will get my drink on.
I'm even sipping on a whiskey sour at a coffee shop as I drink this...(that my boyfriend made for me!)
Stay tuned,
